Oj jag har su..it rätt gött på att blogga om studentlivet dessa veckor. Och nu är det snart slut. "Nya" Turismprogrammet, 3 år har gått. Alltså 3 år sedan jag slutade på Plaza?! Vi har varit på ett roligt volleyboll tournament nere i stan, spelade två mot två, jättekul. Lärde mig lite nya trix och fick tips av spelare som var i en högre dimension än mig om man säger så. Underbar sommarkväll för övrigt. Imorgon är det dags för opponering och sista dagen på Karlstads Universitet..Tomheten är stor. Saknas sedan gör sista korrigeringarna på måndag, inlämning till, tryckeriet och mailande till en massa folk som vi har lovat vår uppsats. Det kommer att ske lite ändringar efter opponeringen men på tisdag är det tänkt att vi lämnar den till tryckeriet. 2 dagar till och sen ska uppsatsen in till skolan. Då är det slut. Hur konstigt känns inte detta då?? Har redan sagt att det var en konstig känsla då vi lämnade den första gången, vår lilla bebis. Denna vecka har vi spenderat med den uppsats vi ska opponera på och läst in lite mer på vår egen, så vi är redo för allt. Läs abstracten längre ner om du orkar.
Känns så tomt ikväll...Imorgon har vi också en avslutningsmiddag med klassen och några lärare på Koriander och innan dess blir det champagne...Moët & Chandon. Lördagen får bli som den blir! men på söndag är det en mingel-mat-dag för examen med familj och vänner hos pappa. Gjorde en rabarber-chili chutney precis till söndagsgrillen, som jag råka bränna lite. typiskt att missa såsen sista minuten! den som var så fin..well well familjen får stå ut, jag gillar ju bränt som jag brukar säga...gött med lite bismak eller?! VOILA :). God natt Puss och Kram

This Minor Field Study, undertaken as a Bachelor’s thesis, aims to research the Seychelles work with sustainable tourism development and its challenges. The study was conducted on site for two months in cooperation with the Seychelles Tourism Board. The national strategy for sustainable tourism development is intended to maintain the uniqueness of Seychelles. Seychelles has for over 30 years been a global leader in protecting biodiversity and natural environment and 51 % of the total land area consists of conservation areas. On the other hand, Seychelles main source of income is tourism, with 40 % of the inhabitants directly or indirectly depending on tourism. As one of our interviewees put it: “the more tourism, the merrier”. The country will get better infrastructure and more jobs because of it and how could that spoil the environment? This study looks into hotels perceptions of sustainable development in the tourism industry, their work with sustainable practices and thoughts concerning ecolabelling. Results show dissatisfaction with the government and that better environmental governance is needed. The recent rapid development of new hotels is becoming a rather problematic situation due to higher competition, infrastructural problems and lack of labour force. The interest in an eco label is high, although they believe it is complicated to implement and is perceived as expensive. On the other hand, hotels are more or less working in a sustainable way already.
Regardless of the sustainable tourism development initiative, our interviewees had a fear that Seychelles is becoming a mass tourism destination. They demand this trend to be stopped. We therefore ask, is more really merrier?
